Captain Saliya Upul Aladeniya, PWV, was a heroic officer of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment who displayed exceptional courage during the Battle of Kokavil in 1990. Refusing to leave his wounded soldiers behind, he fought bravely until his last breath. For his selfless leadership and supreme sacrifice, he was posthumously awarded the Parama Weera Vibhushanaya, Sri Lanka's highest military decoration for gallantry.
Corporal Gamini Kularatne, PWV, known as Hasalaka Gamini, was a national war hero who sacrificed his life during the Battle of Elephant Pass in 1991. His courageous action in destroying an enemy armored bulldozer helped save the camp and many fellow soldiers. For his exceptional bravery, he was posthumously awarded the Parama Weera Vibhushanaya, Sri Lanka’s highest military decoration for gallantry.
Lance Corporal A. M. B. H. G. Abeyrathnebanda, PWV, was a brave Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment soldier who made the supreme sacrifice during military operations in 2009. Despite being wounded, he continued fighting to protect his comrades and complete the mission. For his outstanding courage and selfless devotion to duty, he was posthumously awarded the Parama Weera Vibhushanaya, Sri Lanka’s highest award for gallantry.
